Ferrari Fusebox

Ferrari Maranello 550 Fusebox

Your benefit:

Better reliability for your Ferrari Maranello 550

The construction of the original fuse box bases on 5 overlayed copper plated mylar film sheets. The electrical contacts are soldered to the copper traces without plated through holes as used in a real multi-layer Printed Circuit Board PCB.

In the original design these solder joints degrade over the time due to mechanical and thermal stress. This yields to malfunction of the car. Typical malfunctions are that the engine is only running on one bank or that the radiator fan doesn’t work anymore.

i3-Engineering GmbH has newly developed the whole fuse box assembly, based on a 6-layer heavy copper PCB and press-fit technology. The fuse holders and relay sockets are purchased from a world-class German manufacturer and the contact terminals needed to attach to the car wire harness, have been designed by i3-Engineering GmbH and are manufactured by a specialized supplier. The press-fit technology is today widely used in high reliability devices such as automotive electric power steering modules or inverters of all electric cars.

Installing this fuse box in your car will greatly improve its reliability and increases its life for many more exciting years to come.

Highlights:

  • The unit can be installed into the car without any special tools in a matter of minutes

  • The fuse box comes fully assembled with all relays and fuses

  • 10-year warranty for the fusebox (Details below)

  • The applied press-fit technology is broadly used in the automotive industry even in safety critical applications like the electric power-steering

  • Resistance of most connection inside the fuse box could be reduced to 50% compared to the original fuse box

  • The design is based on a high quality 6-layer heavy copper PCB with a copper thickness on each layer of 210 µm or 6oz. / ft.2

  • Fuse boxes for other (Ferrari) cars can be designed and manufactured on request and when sufficient demand is given

  • The units are 100 % electrically tested at the factory

Engineering Process

All components of the fusebox are designed and assembled in Switzerland. After inspecting the original fusebox from a Ferrari, common weak spots were identified. Material and design specification were fitted in order to adress these. After that, development for a full overhaul of the original ranging from CAD/3D modelling, PCB design, assembling to testing in a separate extensive setup was implemented to arrive at the finished product.

The PCB is a 6 layer heavy copper board with 210 µm (6 oz. / ft. 2) copper on each layer. The layout is elaborated with Altium Designer

Warranty

i3Engineering offers a 10-year warranty for any fusebox that fails due to a defect in materials or workmanship. This does not cover normal wear and tear components, such as fuses and relays, which are considered consumables and may need to be replaced periodically. To make a claim, contact us with proof of purchase and a description of the issue. We will provide instructions for returning the failed fusebox for inspection and potential replacement. This warranty does not cover damage caused by misuse, abuse, accidents, negligence, modifications, or improper installation of the fusebox as well as installations in heavily-modified vehicles.

Our liability under this warranty is limited to the replacement of the defective fusebox, and we shall not be liable for any damages arising from the use of the product, nor for any costs associated with the removal or installation of the product.

The customer is responsible for shipping charges both ways for warranty replacement fuseboxes.

This warranty is non-transferable and only applies to the original purchaser of the fusebox.
